Bike Customizations
After seeing the first bike-customization we did for Calley, Damien and Xiomara from Garden Café called us up to trick out their bikes. They both had antique bikes (30+ years old) that needed some serious work; they couldn’t even be ridden. At first, we thought we would have to replace a lot of the original components. But come to find out, these old components were made with very high quality (better than what’s available now) and just needed to be cleaned and rebuilt. Most of the light, topical rust on the old, chromed parts was taken off with a little trick learned from Matt Palmer and the aluminum components were cleaned with a fine sandpaper. Xiomara’s basket was custom built by our welder Giovanni with just a couple measurements and a photo. The final products are pretty classy and they arrived just in time for Xiomara’s birthday.
(As a side note, we are waiting on the seats to finish being re-upholstered; Damien’s will be white leather and Xiomara’s will be black leather).
